Weave, a Utah based startup that estimates that 29 million businesses use its customer communications platform, announced it has closed on its latest funding round.

The startup’s $70 million Series D funding round was led by Tiger Global Management, its first participation in this company’s funding rounds. Catalyst, Bessemer Venture Partners, Crosslink, Pelion and LeadEdge also joined in the funding round.

Weave indicates that its valuation has jumped in the last ten months to $970 million, $30 thousand away from unicorn status.

With this new round of funding, Weave plans to expand and enhance its current product offering, develop its international presence, grow its staff, and continue to invest in the development of its employees.

“I’m extremely grateful to the thousands of customers who have helped Weave grow to where we are today,” said Weave’s CEO Brandon Rodman, in a blog post. “Our aim with this funding round is to exceed our customers’ expectations at every touch-point, investing heavily in the products we create, the markets we serve and the overall customer experience we provide.”

Weave wants to bring local businesses and their customers closer together, using its unique set of consolidated business tools and year over year growth. Weave says it is disrupting and improving the way businesses work and communicate.

“I am insanely proud of the spectacular team we’ve attracted here at Weave and the amazing products we deliver,” Rodman adds. “We will continue to invest in our customers, our products and our people to build a solid, sustainable, and scalable business. We look forward to our next steps in this amazing journey.”
