SEEDED: Blue Canoe Raises $2.5 Million for English Language Tool

Bellevue, WA based startup Blue Canoe announced it raised new funding to provide a system for non-native English speakers a way to improve their English speech.

The startup announced it has raised $2.5 million in seed funding from Tsingyaun Ventures which lead the funding in this round. Supporting investors in this round include Fantail Ventures and Qualcomm Ventures.

Blue Canoe uses a 20-year-old brain-based methodology called the Color Vowel System, which has successfully improved pronunciation for more than a million learners around the world, according to the company. The method uses patent-pending speech recognition and machine learning, and creating a virtual AI Teacher providing targeted feedback. Users can track their progress over time using its objective pronunciation score.

The startup’s CEO is Sarah Daniels.
