ReadMe, which seeks to improve the API environment for platform developers, received $9 million in funding.

The Series A round was confirmed by one of the investors, Accel, in a blog post after a tech news website, TechCrunch, reported  it earlier today.

“As the API ecosystem matures there is an opportunity to productize best practices from leaders in the space and build meaningful companies around those products,” said Accel partner Daniel Levine in a blog post,

Levine says in the post that Accel, which led the funding, has been investing in API focused startups like ReadMe because “we think they are the new black.”

ReadMe, already used by more than 3,000 customers, lets platform developers customize API and documentations. The startup’s goal is to empower developers to focus on their core projects while ReadMe takes care of other details.

Y Combinator also contributed to this funding round.
