Peterson Ventures, an early stage venture fund with more than $650 million in assets under management, announced it has hired Ilana Stern as the firms newest general partner. She will cover early stage consumer and enterprise startups.

“It’s an honor to join the Peterson Ventures team, and I couldn’t be more excited to formalize my role after angel investing over the last several years,” said Stern, in a statement. “I am especially excited to work with the founders in the portfolio and help them with the challenges of entrepreneurship.”

“As a firm, we strive to be a true partner to our entrepreneurs, to be their first call in good times and bad so that we can help to strategize on the path forward,” said Peterson’s general partner, Ben Capell. “As a former CEO, Ilana has seen first-hand how we work, and she knows what it’s like to go from startup to exit. We are thrilled to have her join our investment team and help other entrepreneurs.”

Stern is not new to Peterson Ventures. The firm invested in her company, Weddington Way, eight years ago after which went on to be acquired by Gap Inc. She later joined Gap as part of the executive team. She then became an angel investor, and was named an “Accelerator” by the Wall Street Journal and one of the “40 under 40” by the San Francisco Business Times.

Stern will be heading Peterson’s San Francisco operations.
