Instagram wants content creators to feel more at home on the platform, so they are giving them new tools to keep them happy and producing content.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the social network is testing new “creator account” profiles which will give high-profile users (read: celebrities, social influencers, digital publishers, etc.) specialized tools to gauge user engagement and personal brand extension. It’s similar to business profiles Instagram released in 2016.
Included in these accounts are follow and unfollow data, personalized contact information and direct messaging tools.
“We want to make sure that Instagram is the best place, and the easiest place, to build fan communities and also build personal brands,” said Instagram product manager Ashley Yuki, to THR. She added that the creator accounts would be the first in a series of upcoming actions to bring more creators into the Instagram fold.
Instagram, currently at more than a billion worldwide users, has become an increasingly vital tool for brands, influencers and celebs to reach audiences, particularly younger ones.
