Linq3, an Atlanta, Georgia based startup that provides digital solutions for the state lottery industry, has been purchased by another Atlanta business, InComm, for an undisclosed amount, according to American Inno.
InComm is a digital payments company which helps facilitate gift card, prepaid wireless, debit cards, digital music downloads and other financial transactions. InComm has steadily grown since its launch in 1992. It boasts the industry’s largest prepaid product suite, with more than 500,000 points of distribution, 1,000 brand partners and 2,800 employees. It claims to own more than 369 domestic and international patents.
The newer Linq3 was launched in 2007 and helps provide systems integration, technologies and other solutions for the lottery industry. The company recently stated it would allow customers to play lottery games digitally with a gift card and smartphone. Among Linq3’s customers include The Pennsylvania Lottery, The New York Lottery, The New Mexico Lottery, and the Georgia Lottery, the official lottery of Linq3’s home state.
The website reports that even as its beginning the acquisition of Linq3, InComm was already working with several of the largest gaming system providers to provide a line of services and solutions to state lotteries in the US.
The company spokesperson had no definitive answer when American Inno asked whether Linq3 would be consolidated into InComm.
